Euro parliament officials tells EU to drop 10 percent biofuels target
The rapporteur for new biofuels laws for the European Parliament recommended that the EU drop its 10 percent biofuels target. The Rapporteur, Claude Turmes wrote in a report that “overwhelming evidence to drop the mandatory 10 percent target for fuels from renewables,” citing food vs fuel, questions about emissions and land-use conversion. A report to the Environment Committee by Anders Wijkman called for a reduction of the biofuels target to 8 percent.
