Montreal Formula One Gran Prix to feature biofuels; 3rd most watched sports event last year
In Canada, a profile of the upcoming Montreal Formula One Gran Prix race noted that the Formula One cars, which “guzzle 75 litres for every 100 kilometres driven, burn the rubber off two dozen tires or more during every race, require an entourage of as many as 100 members per team and 25 tonnes of cargo flying to 19 races worldwide, and specify a car engine must last only 1,000 kilometres,” according to Canada.com, will promote biofuels. Biofuels supporters pointed out the benefits of highlighting biofuels’ ability to power high performance vehicles in race conditions to the 300 million people who watch the Montreal race each year.
