In Australia, the Queensland Government awarded $166,000 to James Cook University and MBD Biodiesel towards an algae farm and biodiesel plant in Townsville. MBD said that it would build a 35,000 tonne algae bioreactor facility in 2008, and establish a 900-acre algae farm by 2010 that would support a 250,000 tonne algae biodiesel facility.
