Ethanol made from waste Coors beer to power cars at the 2008 Democratic Convention

In Colorado, Molson Coors Brewing will be the official provider of ethanol to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, which will convene this August in Denver. The company’s Coors subsidiary will donate all the E85, made from waste beer, to be used in flex-fuel vehicles provided by General Motors. The fuel is made by Coors in Golden, near the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Last September, ethanol-from-beer appeared in the news when Tetra Point Fuels won approval for an 5 Mgy ethanol plant that will convert expired or defective soda, beer, sports drinks and other sugary liquids to ethanol.
