30 Mgy High Plains Bioenergy biodiesel plant commences operations in Oklahoma

In Oklahoma, High Plains Bioenergy commenced production at its 30 Mgy biodiesel plant in Guymon. The $40 million project uses multiple feedstocks with a focus on pork fat from its parent company Seaboard Foods.

Guymon is also home to the a project of the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center, which recently planted 1,000 acres of switchgrass in the Guymon area, in four varietals. The resulting research crop will be provided to the Abengoa cellulosic refinery under development in Hugoton, Kansas.

Governor Brad Henry of Oklahoma has said that the state can become a leader in renewable energy while diversifying its economy and creating jobs.
