BioTown USA runs into hard times as “all-renewable energy” strategy falters

In Indiana, the future of the “BioTown USA” of Reynolds is troubled, according to an Associated Press profile. The town’s nickname stem from a 2005 plan to become the first US town to draw all of its power, gas and fuel needs from 100% renewable energy. The cancellation of a nearby VeraSun Energy corn ethanol project is just one “lowlight” in a series of missteps that exemplify a national problem with delivering the benefits of “new energy” to American homes.
