Propel Biofuels to open 35 new biodiesel stand-alone stations in 2008

In Washington state, Propel Biofuels said it would open 35 standalone biodiesel service stations this year in Washington, Oregon and California. The company said that it would sell B20 at smaller outlets and B20 and B99 at larger stations, such as its 9,000 square foot station in downtown Seattle. The flagship station, which opens next month, will feature four pumps offering B20 and B99 grades of biodiesel, in contrast to other stations which add single biodiesel pumps at conventional gas stations.

Propel Biofuels will also open an unmanned, 24-hour, four pump, biodiesel-only station in Seattle in March 2008. Seattle-based Imperium Renewables, which operates a 100 Mgy biodiesel plant in Washington state, will provide fuel for the station.

Last August, Propel Biofuels announced that they completed a $4.75 million first round of capital from @Ventures and Nth Power. The company announced a goal in April of installing its biodiesel fuel equipment at 20 stations in Washington, Oregon and California. Initial funding for Propel had come from Imperium Renewables in the form of a loan.
