Albany (NY) to convert 326-vehicle transit fleet to B5
In New York, the Capital District Transportation Authority will convert its 326 vehicle fleet to B5 biodiesel. The fleet will use B5 from Mirabito Energy Products, and will reduce CO2 emissions by 1000 tons per year.
Yesterday, Fresh Direct said it will convert its fleet of 150 delivery trucks to B5 from Tri-State Biodiesel, and the conversion will be complete by February 2008.
Elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic states, biodiesel conversions have been announced almost every week this fall. Among notable switches, five Pennsylvania school districts announced a switch to B20 biodiesel. New York’s Oneonta Public Transit is also switching to B20 for all five of its bus routes.
Recently, Montclair. NJ switched its 70-plus diesel-powered fleet and off-road equipment to B20 biodiesel. In New Hampshire, Cranmore Mountain Resort has reported that its fleet of trucks, which operate on B20, have experienced no problems relating to the effect of cold on biodiesel, at temperatures as low as minus 20 Fahrenheit.
