Biofuels Digest Indexâ„¢ gains 0.04 percent to reach new 52-week high of 112.55 despite Pacific Ethanol plant cancellation
The Biofuels Digest Indexâ„¢, a basket of public biofuels stocks, rose 0.04 percent yesterday in flat trading to close at 112.55. The close represented a 52-week high for the Index.
Losers and winners were even on the day as small caps drifted lower, led by Better Biodiesel (BBDS.OB) down 14.29 percent to $0.60.
Large cap diversified agribusiness was up modestly, led by The Andersons (ANDE) which rose 0.89 percent to $40.97. Mid cap ethanol pure plays were generally down less then 5 percent, but Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) eked out a 1.42 percent gain to close at $10.69 as ethanol news was dominated by Pacific Ethanol’s (PEIX) mothballing of its Imperial Valley project.
