In Texas, Tetra Point Fuels is commencing production and will manufacture up to 5 Mgy of ethanol in 2008 from orange juice waste and other sugary waste products. Texas currently has one plant producing ethanol, in Cleburne.
In Scotland this past August, Abertay University has received a grant which will be used to develop means of converting beer and whiskey residue into ethanol. In July, In Japan, Kirin announced plans to use beer production residues as an ethanol feedstock.
