Green Star Products signs with Biotech Research to construct 100-acre algae biodiesel facility

Green Star Products has signed a deal with Biotech Research to construct a 100-acre algae biodiesel facility. The plant will be located in the Midwest adjacent to an existing biodiesel plant which will provide the CO2 for micro algae cultivation. Green Star will operate the new plant for an 18-month period and will earn royalties from sale of algae oil and meal. The two companies expect to build several other facilities using this model.

In September, The Odessa (Wash.) Public Development Authority’s biodiesel plant took delivery of its biodiesel reactor from Green Star. Initial capacity of that plant will be 8 Mgy with a potential to double capacity to 16 Mgy.
