Universal Orlando converts Jaws ride to biodiesel; “more pleasant smell and better water clarity” reported

In Florida, the Jaws ride at Universal Orlando is converting to biodiesel. The park owners, NBC Universal, said that the switch will result in better air and water quality, and results in a more pleasant smell and water clarity for guests experiencing the Jaws ride.

The high-profile conversion follows numerous city bus fleet conversions to biodiesel. The Palm Beach County (Fla.) bus system will convert its 115-bus fleet to an undisclosed biodiesel blend in January 2008.

Last month, fleets in Helsinki, New Hampshire, San Antonio, Somerville (Mass.), and Thailand have announced biodiesel trials and conversions, including a total of more than 600 buses. Also, Sao Paulo has announced that it will deploy Scania biofuel buses in a trial.
