Ethanol prices rise to $1.76; CMT delists ethanol futures contract, says interest too low

At the Chicago Board of Trade, the November contract for denatured ethanol rose $1.76 a gallon. This is the highest price since August 17. Trade on the contract continues to be light, with six contracts representing 174,000 gallons traded.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange delisted its ethanol futures contract. The contract was traded on the Globex platform. The CME said that interest levels in the contract were too low. The CME’s exit leaves only the CBOT contract and a sugar-based ethanol contract traded on the New York-based Intercontinental exchange.

Yetserday, the December crude oil contract rose to (0.46 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. RBOB gasoline rose to $2.2358 per gallon.
