In South Africa, leaders of the IBSA group (India, Brazil and South Africa) will meet this week to bolster an South trade alliance aimed at reducing trade dependence on wealthier northern nations in Europe and the US. Each nation is lobbying for a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council. Biofuels-related trade is a key to the relationship between the three nations. Trade between the three countries has grown to more than $6.5 billion.
IBSA is a trilateral, developmental initiative between India, Brazil and South Africa to promote South-South cooperation and exchange, under the general guidance of the Brasilia Declaration.
