The Dutch firm Bioking will debut its algae-based biodiesel at the UK’s Biodiesel Expo on October 17-18.
In other October algae biodiesel news for the UK, AlgaeLink will demonstrate its photobioreactors this month. Strains of micro-algae consist of up to 70% oil, require only water, CO2, sunlight and nutrients to survive, and can produce far more oil per acre than any other known biodiesel technology. Algae is the fastest-growing plant on earth, blooming at 100 times faster than the rate achieved by trees.
DuPont and BP are expected to debut their butanol fuel in the fall in the UK as well.
For information on Bioking, see Algae-Link. The Bioking website is non-operational as of October 2008....
