Renewable Fuels Association and European Bioethanol Fuel Association call on OECD to disavow anti-biofuels report
The New York Times mis-attributed a discussion document written by the Chair of the Round Table on Sustainable Development at OECD as “a recent report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development”, on climate change, and attributed its findings to the OECD.
Owing to the misattribution by the Times, Washington Post, Financial Times and other news organizations, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) and the European Bioethanol Fuel Association (eBIO) have called on the OECD to “disavow this report as not reflecting the official policy of the organization.â€
The two groups also called on the OECD to recognize errors in the paper such as understating the increase in US corn yields, attributing the price rise in European grains to biofuels when biofuels represent 1.5% of total usage, and ignoring incentives granted to fossil fuel industry.
The discussion paper prepared for the Round Table has been a center piece of the jihad against biofuels.
Chevron, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Fidel Castro, the International Food Policy Institute, and a consortium of US turkey and chicken farmers have been active in the campaign.
