Canadian city converts public transit to B5 biodiesel

Kelowna Regional Transit System has switched its 64 buses to a B5 biodiesel blend. The British Columbia government announced earlier this year it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions 33 per cent by 2020, and mandate a B5 biodiesel blend by 2010.

Kelowna is the third British Columbian city to announce a biodiesel blend conversion for its public transport. Nanaimo and Victoria announced conversions earlier this year, while Winnipeg in Manitoba is the largest Canadian city to announce a biodiesel trial to date.
