Washington State’s Energy Freedom Loan Program pumps $6.4 million into biodiesel

Washington States’ Energy Freedom Loan Program has made $6.4 million in energy loans to a number of biodiesel facilities.

Spokane County Conservation District received $2.6 million for a biodiesel plant that will be operated by Palouse Bio. Odessa Public Development Authority received $1 million for a biodiesel plant that will be operated by Inland Empire Oilseeds. The Port of Sunnyside received $750,000 million for a rapeseed crushing facility that is operated by Natural Selection Farms.

Washington has become increasingly focused on biodiesel production, and Seattle-based Imperium Renewables has become a biofuels production industry leader following the opening of their massive Grays Harbor plant.

Washington State’s Renewable Fuels Standard takes effect in 2008, and mandates a B2 and E2 biofuel blend.
