Kroger to retail VE85 in Ohio, Enterprise to designate 3 Ohio cities as VE-85/Flex-fuel branches
In Ohio, Kroger (KR), VeraSun Energy (VSE). and Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced increased availability of VeraSun-branded VE85 ethanol. Kroger will sell VeraSun-branded VE85 at pumps in 20 Kroger locations in Ohio and Kentucky.
Enterprise Rent-A-car said Tuesday it will designate its locations in Troy, Cincinnati and Grove City as “VE85/FlexFuel branches,” making available E85-fueled vehicles available for rental. Enterprise said that it is the US leadre in flex-=fuel rental car availability, with more than 41,000 flex-fuel vehicles in its fleet.
While flex-fuel vehicles have been successful in the showroom, with car makers putting more than 6 million on the road to date, the lack of E85 availability has plagued attempts to fuel the cars with ethanol. Only 600 outlets across the country current retail E85 ethanol blends. VeraSun, with more than 100 outlets, is the leading E85 retail brand at the present time.
