FIRST PRIZE: A Codexis researcher monitors biofuels process scale up in a ten-liter fermenter facility for the Shell advanced biofuels program at the company’s Redwood City labs.  According to the US Dept of Energy, demand for petroleum and liquid fuels will increase by 27 million barrels per day by 2035.
