North Sea Group is considering large-scale Philippine ethanol project

November 11, 2011 |

In the Philippines, Energy Undersecretary Jose M. Layug Jr. stated that the North Sea Group is considering building an ethanol plant in the Philippines, with a capacity as high as 106 MGy.  Layug commented, “Their technology allows for different types of feedstock. North Sea wants to build an ethanol plant but they also need to study the feasibility of the feedstock in the area. Right now they said they’re looking around for potential areas.”  This is in response to the shortage of ethanol production in the Philippines, with only 10% of mandated ethanol being produced locally.
