October 31, 2011 |

In California, OriginOil has released its presentation on algae’s place in the food vs. fuel issue from the WRA Biofuels 2011 Conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Calling for support for the Department of Energy’s diversification initiative, CEO Riggs Eckelberry pointed out the concerns with single-crop fuel policies and the solutions that algae may provide.

In the presentation, Eckelberry cited examples of combining high-volume forestry waste products with high energy-value algae or using algae to reduce the carbon footprint of ethanol plants.
