Brazil quadruples gasoline imports due to ethanol shortage

October 3, 2011 |

In Brazil, Petrobras is boosting gasoline imports by four-fold to make up for the loss of ethanol being blended. The country continues to cut its ethanol-blending mandate due to a severe supply deficit and drivers use less E100 when it becomes more expensive than gasoline. Gasoline imports are seen at 30,000 barrels per day this year compared to 7,000 barrels per day last year.
