US ethanol may turn to wheat as corn prices rise

In Illinois, ethanol producers are considering using wheat instead of corn as feedstock now that corn futures have become more expensive than wheat futures. However, most facilities would require capital upgrades in order to become multi-feedstock which may not viable in long run. Additionally, the loss of DDGS as a byproduct makes the idea less attractive.
