January 26, 2011 |

In Washington, former House speaker Newt Gingrich called for the replacement of the Environmental Protection Agency with a new agency he dubbed the Environmental Solution Agency.

“I think you have an agency which would get up every morning, very much like the National Institutes for Health or the National Science Foundation, and try to figure out what do we need to do today to get a better environment that also gets us a better economy,” Gingrich told the Associated Press, after outlining his thoughts at a meeting of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. G

ingrich criticized the EPA for overly focusing on regulation and litigation, as opposed to aligning more closely with business, and more focused on developing opportunities based on advancements in science and technology.
