Rentech's RenDiesel completes 1000 mile Audi test

October 28, 2010 |

In California, two new Audi A3 TDI running on RenDiesel fuel (Rentech Inc.) achieved a “flawless” performance during a 1,000-mile test spanning the length of California. There were no noticeable performance differences when compared to traditional fuels. During the test, one vehicle achieved 39.7 mpg while the other attained an average of 43 mpg. The standard EPA average for highway fuel economy for the Audi A3 TDI is 42 mpg.

RenDiesel is anticipated to be twice as fuel efficient as ethanol and contains around 60 per cent more energy per gallon than ethanol. Now additional research is planned to confirm this performance over the full vehicle lifecycle.
